Alan, a local restaurant manager told this true story

While hiring at our restaurant I found that the best people were energetic, personable people who had something in common with the rest of the staff.

One day however I had a young man looking for a dishwasher position.  (As a rule our goal is to interview everyone who walks in the door.)  The young man was dressed in a dirty and torn sweatshirt, had not shaved or showered.  As we talked I had to ask why he left his last job, his response was “My last boss wouldn’t let me smoke pot on the job any more.  Would you be willing to allow it?”

Needless to say, we couldn’t find any common ground, so I couldn’t offer him a position.
