Missy Bolin likely has spent more time on Front Range Community College’s campus than some faculty.

With the time she’s spent taking courses, studying, tutoring and working in the schools cafeteria, she’s often on campus from 7am to 630pm.

In that time she’s become friends with many of the staff and students. But today it is time to say goodbye, as she graduates at the top of her class.

Bolin, 21, has been chosen to deliver a speech to her fellow FRCC graduates at today’s commencement ceremony.

In her time at the school, she earned a 3.89 grade-point average , noting that her only two B’s came in calculus and a 7am speech class.

The Estes Park High School graduate already has started taking classes at Colorado State University, where she plans to major in political science. But she really doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life.

“Political science , as a degree, isn’t much” she said. “Besides, I want to travel”.

Traveling should be easy for Bolin, as she’s learned Spanish and French.

Working in the schools cafeteria gave her the chance to meet several students and faculty members she wouldn’t otherwise have met.

Though she’s taken courses on several topics during her six semesters at Front Range, Bolin said its her work-study job in the cafeteria that has taught her the most.

“Customer service is probably the biggest thing I’ve learned,” she said, recalling her 7am shifts when she was less than chipper. “I’ve really come a long way with that.”

Bolin’s hard work and commitment to her coursework have made her stand out among her peers, one of her professors said.
