Be a Chameleon!

Posted on April 25, 2010

Everyone knows what a chameleon is but why would you want to be like one?

Its simple. The ability to change and adapt to the environment you are seeking a job in is a really good way to get noticed.

Getting noticed is a good thing!

If you aren’t noticed in the first 3 seconds of walking in the door, chances are the owner or manager will forget you in the next 3 seconds.

Part of making an impression on a potential employer is how you are dressed. There are many more, but presenting your self “like them”, is a really simple way to be remembered.

For example, if you really wanted a job at Home Depot, you might want to wear an orange button down shirt and kaki pants. Sounds corny but who cares about corny when it comes to getting the job you want.

Leave your cool at home!

If you wanted to work at The Gap, you could go into one and look at what they are wearing, maybe buy a shirt, or a belt, or a hat, something that when they see you they can identify with.

A chameleon changes its appearance to blend into an environment, you should too if you want a job of your choosing.

Happy job hunting!
